Supertown - The New Gay Destination

Thailand is a wonderous country, it is a mix of a ancient culture and modern cities, warm beautiful beaches and cool misty mountains. Thai people are very welcoming by nature and will endeavor to make you feel most welcome!

Most major cities have a significant gay population of both Asian and Westerner and the public by & large is accepting of the lifestyle.

As a vacation spot, it is hard to beat. For gay tourists it can be a wonderful destination to explore. Unlike many places, Thailand caters to gay tourists of all ages and "older gays" are NOT ignored by the locals.

Thailand is working very hard to prevent the sexual exploitation of minors and persons caught having sex with an individual under the age age of 18 can face immediate arrest and harsh penalties including long imprisonment.

Always check ID cards to confirm age and understand that most Hotels will require your "friend" to surrender their ID to Security for the duration of their stay with you.

Pattaya / Jomtien Beach is located on the Eastern Seaboard of the Gulf  Of  Thailand approximately two hours south of Bangkok, the country's Capitol. The official population stands about 100,000 but that number does not include non Thai Ex-Pats and many Thais who work here but call other provinces home.

It was a popular R&R spot for American Troops during the Viet Nam War and has grown substantially in the past thirty years.

Initially little more than a fishing village, now high rise Condos dot the landscape where bungalows & small guesthouses once stood. Modern Shopping Malls and Traditional Thai Night Markets co-exist side by side.

And then there are are the Bars..

Prior to the Pandemic, it was estimated there were more than 1,000 Bars in Pattaya. Most of them catered to a straight clientele, but there were three concentrated areas of Gay Bars.

Boyztown in South Pattaya was the largest and most "touristy" with many popular bars with Gogo Boys or  Cabaret Shows. Second was Sunee Plaza, which in it's heyday was known as the "naughtier" destination. And finally, Jomtien Complex  south of town by about 4 km which for years seemed a "hit or miss after thought" with only a few bars and a lot of empty shophouses.

A few years ago, Jomtien Complex was renamed Supertown Jomtien Walking Street to avoid confusion with a similarly named Condo.  You'll still here many locals  refer to by it's former name.

With more and more people living south of the city, Jomtien Supertown Walking Street has grown substantially thanks to many Hotels, Condos and Restaurants that have opened in the area and the proximity to Dongtan Beach, widely considered to be the gay beach

On any given night there are multiple Cabaret Shows, Parties in various Bars, Live Music events and always lots of young gay men waiting to meet you!

With over Gay 30 Bars & 20 Restaurants PLUS the Gay Beach, Supertown is hard to beat  as a gay destination.

Short and long stay accommodation are available from as low as 500 Baht/night (USD 14.00) with most accommodation in the $30 USD range.  You can easily book a furnished Condo for longer stays with prices starting around $350 - $600 USD a month.

A good meal in a restaurant will run $10 - $15 USD (with many lower priced local options costing $2 - $3 USD) and most bar drinks are in the $2 - $4 USD range.  And don't worry, if Thai Food isn't your thing,  the are more western style restaurants here than you could possibly visit.

We all know that air travel is not as fun as it used to be and airfares may seem high, but once you arrive  to the friendly embrace of Thailand, you'll  discover why so many people return  again and again to "The Land Of Smile".
